The 3 different firmness options of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same general construction, but with somewhat varying densities and foams. Each mattress starts with 8 inches of individually-wrapped support coils. The next layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that is intended to improve airflow and helps with heat retention. Each firmness level uses 3 PCF (lbs per cubic foot foam within this layer. The subsequent layer is 1.5” of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-infused Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The last layer is 1.5” of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The bed cover is 1.5” of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam inside a quilted, cooling fabric. This gives a gentle texture.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is available in 3 firmness settings: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness is measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the least firm and 10 being the firmest. You can choose between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight will make an impact on what works for you. Generally, heavier people fare better with firmer beds while lighter people generally discover they can get more hug and contour on softer beds.
Hybrids usually don’t isolate movement as well as all-foam beds usually do, because inner-springs permit motion to more easily transfer across the surface of the bed. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, though, has several foam layers on top of its inner-springs. These foam layers aid the bed absorb motion to a sizeable extent. As soon as I moved next to my colleague, you couldn’t identify much motion in her body. She detailed that she could feel the movement, although it was minimal. Despite this, the bed still exhibits exceptional bounce.
If you have mobility difficulties, moving around in a reclined position can be difficult. Classic memory foam frequently caused so much sinkage that it made it tough to move around. But if you have too much rebound, it’s easy to disturb sleep.
You may face some sinkage with the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its soft foam uppermost layers. However, this sinking feeling is different from what you would receive with a more traditional memory foam mattress as it’s reduced by the mattress’ supportive individually-wrapped coil system. This means you’ll sink, but will still be able to move around conveniently and get out of bed without too much work. While there is some sinkage here, it is not quite as dramatic as it would be on a typical memory foam bed. This creates great pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed feeling.
The inner-spring coil support core of the Alexander Signature Hybrid functions to reinforce its edges. This provides an even sleeping surface across the whole bed and helps prevent sagging and sinkage at the edge of the bed. The spring coils are exceptional at providing that strong foundation you need. When I moved in various positions, I felt very well-supported. I could feel and you could actually witness where I really do sink in a little bit, but the sinkage from the bed suddenly ends where the inner-spring coils start. In spite of the plush foam top layers, this mattress is impressively supportive, due to the 8 inches of pocketed coils in its core. It is super effortless to get in and out of the mattress, and I am well–supported when I lie on the border, a great advantage for sleep spouses.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid sleeps quite cool. The inner-spring coils permit ample airflow, assisting to reduce body warmth. The foam layers, which in most cases trap heat, are treated with cooling gel and copper to prevent this common problem. This mattress is a good pick for people who need to sleep cool. This hybrid does a fantastic job of dispersing and isolating heat, leading to a sleeping experience that’s wonderfully cool.

Once an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is created, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and sent to your front door in a marked box. Whenever a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it tends to have a temporary odor when it is unboxed. This odor is called “off-gassing.” You should expect to experience this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, but the smell should disappear immediately.
