This option is more pricey due to the addition of the topper. In my opinion, the Alexander Signature Hybrid and the Alexander Signature Series (memory foam) are exceptional mattresses, especially given the price.

The 3 varying firmness settings of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same basic structure, but with somewhat different foams and densities. Each mattress begins with 8 inches of individually-wrapped support coils. The second layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s made to improve airflow and assists with heat retention. Each firmness level utilizes 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam within this layer. The subsequent layer is 1.5 inches of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The final layer is 1.5” of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The bed cover is 1.5 inches of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam within a quilted, cooling fabric. This offers a pillowtop-like texture.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is produced in 3 firmness settings: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness is based on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the least firm and 10 being the firmest. You can select between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight is important on what works for you. Generally, heavier people fare better with firmer mattresses while lighter people generally find they can achieve more hug and contour on softer mattresses.
Hybrids do not isolate motion as well as all-foam mattresses typically do, due to the fact that springs allow motion to more easily move across the surface of the mattress. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, though, has various foam layers on top of its inner-springs. These layers aid the mattress absorb motion to a significant extent. When I turned and tossed next to my partner, you couldn’t identify much movement in her body. She detailed that she could feel it, but it was minimal. In spite of this, the mattress still exhibits great bounce.
If you have mobility issues, moving around while lying down may be challenging. Classic memory foam frequently caused so much sinkage that it made it challenging to move around. However, if you have too much rebound, it’s easy to disturb sleep.
You may encounter some sinkage using the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its plush foam uppermost layers. However, this sinking feeling differs from what you would get with a more traditional memory foam mattress as it’s mitigated by the bed’s supportive pocketed coil system. This means you will sink, but will still be able to move around easily and get out of bed without too much effort. While there is some sinkage here, it is not as dramatic as it would be about a typical memory foam bed. This makes for excellent pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed feeling.
The inner-spring coil support core of the Alexander Signature Hybrid functions to fortify its perimeter. This gives an even sleeping surface across the whole bed and helps prevent sagging and sinkage at the perimeter of the bed. The inner-spring coils are exceptional at providing that firm base you want. When I moved in a variety of positions, I felt pretty well-supported. I could feel and you could actually witness where I really do sink in a little bit, but the sinkage from the bed abruptly ends where the inner-spring coils start. In spite of the plush foam uppermost layers, this mattress is quite supportive, thanks to the 8 inches of individually-wrapped coils in its foundation. It’s quite easy to get in and out of the mattress, and I am well–supported when I lay on the edge, a great benefit for sleeping spouses.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is relatively cool. The spring coils allow enough airflow, helping to reduce body warmth. The foam layers, which normally trap warmth, are infused with copper and cooling gel to counteract this common issue. This bed is a good pick for those who want to sleep cool. This hybrid does a great job of isolating and dispersing heat, leading to a sleeping feeling that is marvelously cool.
Nest Bedding Alexander Signature Hybrid
After an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is made, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and delivered to your front door in a box that is marked. Whenever a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it tends to produce a temporary odor when it is unboxed. This odor is called “off-gassing.” You should expect to see this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, but the smell should fade immediately.
