Additionally, the Latex Mattress is offered in three firmness options. The ‘Soft w/topper’ variant features a comfort layer made from soft Dunlop latex, as well as a 3 inch Dunlop latex topper. This variant is more pricey due to the inclusion of the topper. The ‘Medium’ and ‘Firm’ variants forgo the topper; the ‘Medium’ uses a gentle Dunlop latex comfort layer and a firm Dunlop latex support center, while the ‘Firm’ uses a firm Dunlop latex comfort layer and a gentle Dunlop latex support core.
In my opinion, the Alex Signature Series (memory foam) and the Alex Signature Hybrid are exceptional mattresses, especially given the price.

The three varying firmness settings of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all use the same basic structure, but with somewhat different densities and foams. Each bed starts with 8 inches of individually-wrapped support coils. The second layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that is designed to add airflow and assists with heat retention. Each firmness level uses 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam in this layer. The following layer is 1.5 inches of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-infused Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The final layer is 1.5” of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The mattress cover is 1.5 inches of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam within a quilted, cooling cloth. This provides a pillowtop-like texture.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is offered in 3 firmness levels: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness is based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the firmest and 1 being the least firm. You can select between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight will make an impact on what you would prefer. Generally, heavier people fare better with firmer mattresses while lighter people usually find they can get more hug and contour on plusher beds.
Hybrids usually do not isolate movement as well as all-foam mattresses usually do, because inner-springs allow movement to more easily move across the surface of the bed. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, though, has several foam layers above its springs. These foam layers help the mattress absorb movement to a sizeable extent. As soon as I turned and tossed next to my colleague, you couldn’t see much movement in her body. She mentioned that she could feel it, but it was minimal. Despite this, the bed still exhibits exceptional bounce.
In case you have mobility problems, moving around while lying down can be difficult. Traditional memory foam often caused a lot of sinkage that it made it challenging to move around. However, if you have too much rebound, it’s easy to disturb rest.
You may face some sinkage with the Alexander Signature Hybrid because of its plush foam uppermost layers. But this sinking feeling is different from what you’d obtain with a more conventional memory foam bed as it is mitigated by the mattress’ supportive individually-wrapped coil system. This means you’ll sink, but will still be able to move around easily and get out of the mattress without too much effort. While there is some sinkage here, it’s not quite as dramatic as it would be on a normal memory foam bed. This creates exceptional pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed feeling.
The inner-spring coil support foundation of the Alexander Signature Hybrid works to fortify its edges. This gives an even sleeping surface across the entire mattress and helps prevent sinkage and sagging around the edge of the mattress. The inner-spring coils are excellent at providing that solid base you want. When I moved in various positions, I felt very well-supported. I can feel and you can actually see where I really do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage from the mattress ends where the inner-spring coils start. In spite of the soft foam top layers, this bed is very supportive, due to the eight inches of pocketed coils in its foundation. It is super easy to get in and out of the bed, and I am well–supported when I lay on the border, a great asset for sleeping partners.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is quite cool. The spring coils allow adequate airflow, helping to diminish body warmth. The foam layers, which in most cases trap warmth, are treated with cooling gel and copper to prevent this frequent issue. This mattress is a good match for people who prefer to rest cool. This hybrid does a wonderful job of dispersing and isolating warmth, resulting in a sleeping experience that’s wonderfully cool.
Nest Bedding Complaints
After an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is created, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and sent to your doorstep in a box that is marked. Whenever a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it tends to emit a temporary smell when it’s opened. This odor is called “off-gassing.” You should expect to experience this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, the smell should fade fast.
