Additionally, the Latex Mattress is offered in 3 firmness options. The ‘Soft w/topper’ variant has a comfort layer made with soft Dunlop latex, as well as a 3 inch Dunlop latex topper. This option is more expensive due to the inclusion of the topper. The ‘Medium’ and ‘Firm’ models go without the topper; the ‘Medium’ uses a soft Dunlop latex comfort layer and a firm Dunlop latex support center, while the ‘Firm’ has a firm Dunlop latex comfort layer and a gentle Dunlop latex support core.
In my opinion, the Alexander Signature Hybrid and the Alexander Signature Series (memory foam) are exceptional mattresses, especially given the price.

The 3 different firmness settings of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same basic structure, but with slightly varying foams and densities. Each mattress begins with 8 inches of individually-wrapped support coils. The second layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s designed to add airflow and helps with heat retention. Each firmness level uses 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam in this layer. The subsequent layer is 1.5” of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-infused Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The last layer is 1.5 inches of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The mattress cover is 1.5” of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam inside a quilted, cooling cloth. This gives a soft texture.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is offered in 3 firmness levels: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness is based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the least firm and 10 being the firmest. You can select between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight will make an impact on what you would prefer. Generally, heavier people fare better with firmer mattresses while lighter people usually find they can achieve more hug and shape on plusher mattresses.
Hybrids do not isolate motion as well as all-foam mattresses typically do, because springs allow motion to more easily move across the surface of the mattress. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, has various foam layers above its inner-springs. These foam layers help the mattress absorb motion to a large extent. As soon as I tossed and turned next to my partner, you couldn’t see much motion in her body. She mentioned that she could feel the movement, although detection was minimal. In spite of this, the bed still exhibits good bounce.
In case you have mobility issues, moving around while lying down can be challenging. Classic memory foam usually caused a lot of sinkage that it made it hard to move around. But if you have too much rebound, it’s easy to disturb sleep.
You may encounter some sinkage with the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its plush foam uppermost layers. However, this sinking feeling differs from what you would achieve with a more traditional memory foam mattress as it is mitigated by the mattress’ supportive pocketed coil system. This means you will sink, but will still be able to move around conveniently and get out of the mattress without too much work. While there is some sinkage here, it is not as dramatic as it would be on a conventional memory foam bed. This creates great pressure relief with no stuck-in-the-bed experience.
The inner-spring coil support base of the Alexander Signature Hybrid functions to reinforce its perimeter. This provides an even sleeping surface across the whole mattress and helps prevent sagging and sinkage at the perimeter of the mattress. The inner-spring coils are excellent at setting that firm foundation you want. When I moved in various positions, I felt pretty well-supported. I could feel and you can actually see where I do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage in the mattress ends where the coils begin. In spite of the soft foam top layers, this bed is quite supportive, due to the 8 inches of individually-wrapped coils in its core. It is very effortless to get in and out of the bed, and I am well–supported when I lie on the edge, a great plus for sleep spouses.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid sleeps quite cool. The spring coils permit sufficient airflow, assisting to reduce body heat. The foam layers, which in most cases trap warmth, are treated with copper and cooling gel to counteract this frequent problem. This bed is a good fit for people who prefer to rest cool. This hybrid does a wonderful job of dispersing and isolating heat, leading to a resting feeling that is wonderfully cool.

After an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is made, it is compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and sent to your front door in a box that is marked. Whenever a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it has a tendency to have a temporary smell when it is opened. This smell is known as “off-gassing.” You should expect to see this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, but the smell should disappear quickly.
