This variant is more pricey due to the addition of the topper. The ‘Medium’ and ‘Firm’ variants go without the topper; the ‘Medium’ uses a soft Dunlop latex comfort layer and a firm Dunlop latex support center, while the ‘Firm’ uses a firm Dunlop latex comfort layer and a soft Dunlop latex support core.
In my opinion, the Alex Signature Series (memory foam) and the Alex Signature Hybrid are impressive mattresses, especially given the price.

The 3 different firmness options of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same general construction, but with slightly different densities and foams. Each bed begins with 8 inches of individually-pocketed support coils. The second layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s made to increase airflow and assists with heat retention. Each firmness level makes use of 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam in this layer. The subsequent layer is 1.5” of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The final layer is 1.5 inches of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The bed cover is 1.5 inches of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam inside a quilted, cooling fabric. This provides a soft texture.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is available in three firmness settings: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness level is based on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the least firm. You can select between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight is crucial on what works for you. Generally, heavier people fare better with firmer beds while lighter people generally discover they can achieve more hug and contour on plusher beds.
Hybrids don’t isolate movement as well as all-foam beds usually do, because inner-springs permit motion to more easily move through the surface of the mattress. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, has several foam layers above its springs. These foam layers aid the mattress absorb movement to a large extent. As soon as I tossed and turned next to my spouse, you couldn’t see much movement in her body. She mentioned that she could feel it, although detection was minimal. In spite of this, the mattress still displays exceptional bounce.
If you have mobility difficulties, moving around in a reclined position may be challenging. Classic memory foam frequently caused so much sinkage that it made it tough to move around. However, if you have too much bounce, it’s easy to disturb rest.
You may experience some sinkage using the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its soft foam uppermost layers. But this sinking feeling differs from what you would achieve with a more conventional memory foam mattress as it is mitigated by the mattress’ supportive pocketed coil system. This means you will sink, but will still be able to move around conveniently and get out of bed without too much problem. While there’s some sinkage here, it is not as striking as it would be on a normal memory foam bed. This makes for great pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed feeling.
The inner-spring coil support base of the Alexander Signature Hybrid works to fortify its perimeter. This produces a level sleeping surface across the entire mattress and helps prevent sagging and sinkage around the edge of the bed. The inner-spring coils are excellent at providing that strong base you need. When I moved in various positions, I felt pretty well-supported. I could feel and you can actually see where I do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage from the mattress suddenly ends where the spring coils begin. In spite of the plush foam uppermost layers, this bed is very supportive, due to the eight inches of pocketed coils at its foundation. It is very easy to get in and out of the bed, and I am well–supported when I lie on the edge, a great benefit for sleeping spouses.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is relatively cool. The inner-spring coils allow enough airflow, helping to reduce body warmth. The foam layers, which in most cases trap warmth, are infused with cooling gel and copper to prevent this frequent problem. This bed is a good fit for those who need to rest cool. This hybrid does a wonderful job of dispersing and isolating heat, resulting in a sleeping experience that’s marvelously cool.

Once an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is created, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and sent to your doorstep in a box that is marked. Whenever a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it tends to produce a temporary smell when it is unboxed. This odor is called “off-gassing.” You can expect to experience this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, but the smell should fade right away.
