The three distinct firmness options of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same general structure, but with slightly different densities and foams. Each mattress begins with 8 inches of individually-pocketed support coils. The next layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s intended to add airflow and assists with heat retention. Each firmness level uses 3 PCF (lbs per cubic foot foam in this layer. The following layer is 1.5 inches of either 2.5 PCF copper-infused “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The last layer is 1.5 inches of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The mattress cover is 1.5 inches of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam inside a quilted, cooling cloth. This provides a pillowtop-like texture.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is produced in three firmness settings: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness is measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the least firm and 10 being the most firm. You can select between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight is going to make an impact on what you would prefer. Generally, heavier people prefer firmer beds while lighter people usually find they can obtain more hug and contour on softer mattresses.
Hybrids do not isolate motion as well as all-foam mattresses typically do, because inner-springs allow movement to more easily move through the surface of the mattress. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, has several foam layers on top of its springs. These foam layers aid the mattress absorb motion to a sizeable extent. As soon as I tossed and turned next to my colleague, you couldn’t see much movement in her body. She detailed that she could feel the movement, but detection was minimal. In spite of this, the mattress still exhibits exceptional bounce.
In case you have mobility difficulties, moving around in a reclined position may be difficult. Traditional memory foam usually caused so much sinkage that it made it challenging to move around. However, if you have too much bounce, it’s easy to disturb sleep.
You will face some sinkage using the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its soft foam top layers. However, this sinking feeling is different from what you would receive with a more traditional memory foam mattress as it’s reduced by the bed’s supportive pocketed coil system. This means you will sink, but will still have the ability to move around easily and get out of the mattress without too much problem. While there is some sinkage here, it is not quite as striking as it would be on a conventional memory foam bed. This makes for great pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed feeling.
The inner-spring coil support base of the Alexander Signature Hybrid functions to reinforce its perimeter. This provides an even sleeping surface across the entire mattress and helps prevent sagging and sinkage at the perimeter of the bed. The spring coils are exceptional at setting that strong foundation you need. When I moved in a variety of positions, I felt fairly well-supported. I can feel and you could actually see where I do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage in the bed abruptly ends where the spring coils begin. Despite the soft foam top layers, this bed is extremely supportive, due to the 8 inches of pocketed coils in its core. It’s very easy to get in and out of the bed, and I am well–supported when I lay on the edge, a big asset for sleeping partners.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is quite cool. The inner-spring coils allow enough airflow, helping to reduce body heat. The foam layers, which usually trap warmth, are treated with copper and cooling gel to counteract this common problem. This mattress is a good pick for people who prefer to rest cool. This hybrid does a wonderful job of dispersing and isolating heat, leading to a resting feeling that’s marvelously cool.

Once an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is created, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and sent to your front door in a box that is marked. Whenever a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it has a tendency to emit a temporary smell when it is unboxed. This smell is called “off-gassing.” You can anticipate to experience this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, the smell should disappear fast.
