The 3 different firmness levels of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same basic construction, but with somewhat varying foams and densities. Each mattress starts with 8 inches of individually-wrapped support coils. The next layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s intended to improve airflow and assists with heat retention. Each firmness level utilizes 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam within this layer. The following layer is 1.5” of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The final layer is 1.5 inches of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The mattress cover is 1.5 inches of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam inside a quilted, cooling cloth. This provides a pillowtop-like texture.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is produced in three firmness levels: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness level is based on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the least firm and 10 being the most firm. You can pick between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight is crucial on what works for you. Generally, heavier people prefer firmer beds while lighter people normally find they can obtain more hug and shape on softer mattresses.
Hybrids usually don’t isolate movement as well as all-foam beds usually do, because inner-springs permit motion to more easily transfer through the surface of the mattress. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, though, has several foam layers above its inner-springs. These foam layers aid the mattress absorb motion to a significant extent. When I turned and tossed next to my partner, you couldn’t identify much movement in her body. She said that she could feel the movement, but it was minimal. Despite this, the bed still displays exceptional bounce.
If you have mobility problems, moving around in a reclined position can be hard. Classic memory foam usually caused a lot of sinkage that it made it challenging to move around. However, if you have too much bounce, it’s easy to disturb sleep.
You will experience some sinkage using the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its soft foam top layers. However, this sinking feeling is different from what you’d obtain with a more conventional memory foam bed as it is reduced by the mattress’ supportive pocketed coil system. Meaning you will sink, but will still be able to move around conveniently and get out of the bed without too much problem. While there’s some sinkage here, it’s not as striking as it would be about a normal memory foam bed. This makes for exceptional pressure relief with no stuck-in-the-bed feeling.
The inner-spring coil support base of the Alexander Signature Hybrid works to reinforce its edges. This gives a level sleeping surface across the entire mattress and helps prevent sinkage and sagging around the perimeter of the bed. The spring coils are exceptional at providing that firm core you want. When I moved in various positions, I felt fairly well-supported. I can feel and you could actually witness where I really do sink in a little bit, but the sinkage from the mattress abruptly ends where the spring coils begin. Despite the plush foam uppermost layers, this mattress is very supportive, thanks to the 8 inches of pocketed coils in its core. It is very easy to get in and out of the mattress, and I am well–supported when I lie on the border, a great plus for sleeping partners.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid sleeps quite cool. The inner-spring coils permit ample airflow, aiding to reduce body heat. The foam layers, which normally trap warmth, are treated with cooling gel and copper to prevent this frequent issue. This bed is a great pick for those who need to rest cool. This hybrid does a great job of dispersing and isolating heat, resulting in a resting feeling that is wonderfully cool.

Once an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is manufactured, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and sent to your doorstep in a box that is marked. Every time a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it has a tendency to produce a temporary odor when it’s opened. This odor is known as “off-gassing.” You should anticipate to experience this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, the smell should dissipate quickly.
