The 3 varying firmness levels of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same basic structure, but with somewhat different densities and foams. Each bed begins with 8 inches of individually-pocketed support coils. The second layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s made to improve airflow and helps with heat retention. Each firmness level uses 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam within this layer. The subsequent layer is 1.5” of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The last layer is 1.5” of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The mattress cover is 1.5” of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam inside a quilted, cooling cloth. This provides a gentle feel.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is produced in 3 firmness settings: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness level is based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the least firm. You can choose between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight will make an impact on what works for you. Generally, heavier people prefer firmer mattresses while lighter people normally discover they can get more hug and shape on softer mattresses.
Hybrids don’t isolate movement as well as all-foam mattresses typically do, due to the fact that springs allow motion to more easily move across the surface of the mattress. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, has various foam layers above its inner-springs. These foam layers aid the mattress absorb motion to a large extent. When I tossed and turned next to my partner, you could not identify much motion in her body. She mentioned that she could feel it, but detection was minimal. Despite this, the bed still features great bounce.
If you have mobility issues, moving around while lying down may be difficult. Classic memory foam usually caused a lot of sinkage that it made it hard to move around. However, if you have too much bounce, it’s easy to disturb sleep.
You will experience some sinkage with the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its soft foam uppermost layers. But this sinking feeling is different from what you would get with a more conventional memory foam bed as it’s mitigated by the mattress’ supportive individually-wrapped coil system. Meaning you will sink, but will still be able to move around conveniently and get out of the bed without too much effort. While there is some sinkage here, it is not quite as striking as it would be about a typical memory foam mattress. This makes for exceptional pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed feeling.
The inner-spring coil support foundation of the Alexander Signature Hybrid works to fortify its edges. This provides an even sleeping surface across the entire mattress and helps prevent sagging and sinkage around the perimeter of the mattress. The spring coils are great at setting that firm core you require. When I moved in various positions, I felt very well-supported. I could feel and you can actually witness where I really do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage from the bed ends where the spring coils start. Despite the soft foam top layers, this mattress is impressively supportive, thanks to the 8 inches of individually-wrapped coils at its core. It’s quite easy to get in and out of the bed, and I am well–supported when I lie on the border, a great benefit for sleep spouses.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is relatively cool. The inner-spring coils permit enough airflow, aiding to diminish body heat. The foam layers, which normally trap heat, are treated with copper and cooling gel to prevent this common problem. This bed is a fantastic match for those who prefer to sleep cool. This hybrid does a great job of dispersing and isolating warmth, leading to a sleeping feeling that’s marvelously cool.
After an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is created, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and delivered to your front door in a marked box. Every time a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it tends to produce a temporary smell when it’s unboxed. This smell is called “off-gassing.” You should expect to see this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, but the smell should fade right away.
